Anyone noticing a change occurring with the Experimental Aircraft Association? The organization has historically been centralized around creating and building experimental aircraft. Over the last year since Tom Poberezny retired from his position as Chairman for EAA, the company's main focus seems to have shifted.
With a change in leadership, change is bound to happen in any organization. This is no different with EAA, as many believe the association is moving its focus towards a higher end, turbine demographic. With EAA's announcement earlier this week of a new Chairman of the Board, Jack Pelton and Rod Hightower's resignation, it will be interesting to see where the former President and CEO of Cessna will turn the association's focus for the next three years.
One place you can continue to find the traditional aircraft projects and experimental work is on Chad Jensen's Facebook page, Homebuilders HQ. Here, projects are posted and progress is tracked on his Facebook page which is the official page of the Homebuilder's Community. Currently Homebuilders HQ is building a Zenith which can be followed on Homebuilders HQ and at www.zenith750project.com.
Chad nearly cancelled the Facebook page and rolled Homebuilders HQ into the main EAA Facebook page. Fortunately after many fans expressed their concerns over the closing announcement, Chad decided to keep the page up and operating.
Check out Homebuilders HQ at http://www.facebook.com/EAAHomebuilders.
Have you felt EAA has undergone a shift in their focus over the last couple years? How do you feel Mr. Pelton will handle the association as the new man in charge? Please feel free to comment below!
